Bucking event trends, Cisco Live! attracted record attendance with their physical event in San Francisco with over 10,000 attendees and added another 3,500 attendees that participated in the event virtually either through the InXpo platform or their Second Life virtual environment.

According to Dannette Veale Cisco Live! Virtual’s manager, “we have a few unique panels for our Second Life attendees, really great panels. Last night we had a social event in Second Life.” The panel sessions being presented in Second Life and then streamed into the InXpo virtual environment made it easy for people to attend and they didn’t need to go into Second Life or create avatars, etc.

During his keynote, John Chambers had a slide on virtual events and talked about how effective they were and how much money Cisco was saving with their aggressive virtual meeting program. Cisco has moved most of their internal meetings to virtual and is adding virtual as an option to most of their customer facing events as well.

Cisco Live! Virtual will be available on-demand in a limited fashion for free (includes keynotes) and all sessions will be available for a fee .
