ViVu's VuRoom Offers Multipoint Videoconferencing to Microsoft Lync

ViVu, a provider of desktop videoconferencing and participative video webinar solutions, has introduced VuRoom for Microsoft Lync that transforms Microsoft  Lync, previously Microsoft Office Communicator, into a multi-party video collaboration platform for enterprises. VuRoom for Microsoft Lync offers a full-featured videoconferencing and business collaboration tool to the users of Lync, a popular enterprise collaboration tool in use across the world.

VuRoom integrates with the Microsoft Lync without a glitch. It doesn’t disrupt existing network, complies with enterprise-class security, requires zero proprietary hardware and available as both both on-premise/SaaS. VuRoom for Microsoft Lync delivers four key benefits:

  1. True multiparty videoconferencing: At present, Microsoft Lync only allows you to see one video at a time – the video of whoever is speaking. VuRoom delivers true multiparty videoconferencing, so you can see everyone, even if they’re not talking at that moment.
  2. HD video: Microsoft Lync supports a narrow range of standard-definition webcams. VuRoom supports high-definition video cameras, delivering higher quality video. It also integrates with SIP-based enterprise telepresence or video conferencing equipment from companies such as Polycom, Tandberg or LifeSize.
  3. Faster desktop sharing with rich, vibrant colors and animated slides sharing: VuRoom for Lync features low-latency desktop sharing with HD resolution and color fidelity, and onscreen file sharing that shows PowerPoint presentations.
  4. Connect with people who haven’t installed Microsoft Lync: Microsoft Lync can’t connect with people outside the platform. That’s a problem when you want to chat with customers or offsite contractors. With VuRoom, you simply send your out-of-network contact a Web link, and they’re chatting within seconds.

VuRoom for Microsoft Lync

VuRoom was first released as a Skype plug-in and quickly became the multiparty videoconferencing solution of choice for Skype users. But a Skype-based solution did not meet the security requirements from many enterprise users’ IT departments, stated ViVu.

"We received countless requests to make VuRoom available to the very large segment of the enterprise user community that has standardized on Lync," said ViVu's CEO, Sudha Valluru. "Our new VuRoom plugin for Lync delivers the high-quality video collaboration features users have come to expect from VuRoom, with built-in enterprise-level security and without requiring the addition of hardware or software components to the enterprise IT infrastructure."
