I’ve Never Heard of So Many People Leaving a Meeting …to Attend the Meeting

I’ve heard four different stories of people who attended Virtual Edge Summit in person and then left to attend virtually. But I also heard two stories of people who were attending virtually and then decided to come in to the live event.

The best story is from one attendee who left the summit to go to the airport for her flight and logged in to the virtual event at the terminal with others that she was traveling with. They were chatting with us live from the airport while in the virtual event. She may be the first person who actually attended a virtual event while on the plane as her last message was “they’re making me turn off my computer now for takeoff.”

There were people who were at the event in the morning and then left to go back to their office and hotel room to experience the virtual event but came back for the networking reception. And one of the people who was attending virtually (but in the Bay Area) left their office to attend in person but the reason was they were having some technical problems and we were able to help them when they came to the event so that they could attend virtually the next day.
The great thing is that we were able to give people the opportunity to attend one event multiple ways so they could get a firsthand experience. In the future we plan to expand the experience even more with the integration of video chat and virtual team meetings with onsite and remote attendees. Ideally, we’d like to add a satellite physical location on the other coast for attendees but it may not be for the next Summit.

Drop me a note and let me know what you’d like to see.
