Is TikTok down? Here’s what to know

On Thursday afternoon, TikTok encountered many outages, according to the website Downdetector.

There were over 32,000 reports of TikTok outages as of 4:45 p.m. The number of reported outages had decreased to 18,668 by 5:15 p.m. Outages were decreased to just under 3,000 by 6 p.m.

78 percent of TikTok failures are caused by the mobile app, with 20 percent being related to server connections, according to Downdetector, an online site that monitors and reports outages and service interruptions in real time. The website is to blame for 1% of downtime reports.

An outage said to have affected thousands of users on Thursday might have interrupted some TikTok users’ scrolling.

Downdetector, a site tracking app failures, reported more than 33,000 reported outages beginning about 4 p.m. EST.

TikTok did not react right away to request for comment.
